Wyatt Windham Wins Individual State Title; Both Teams Post Top-10 Finishes at 2024 State Championship
Lumpkin County was again well represented at the 2024 GHSA AAA State Championship on Nov. 9 with senior Wyatt Windham winning the individual state championship and fueling the boys team to it second consecutive podium finish (top-four).  Joining Wyatt on the top-10 podium was teammates Whitt Windham (4th) and Sam Edwards (10th). The LCHS girls returned to the spotlight with a 9th place team finish led by Keli George's top-10 result (8th overall). 

2nd Annual North Georgia Cross Country Invitational Details
The Lumpkin County High School Cross Country booster club is set to kick off the 2nd Annual North Georgia Cross Country Invitational on Saturday, Sept. 14 at the University of North Georgia Cross Country Course in Oakwood, Ga. The event is scheduled to host 50 schools featuring 14 teams across middle school, junior varsity and varsity divisions totaling 1,500 runners. 2024 Meet Schedule & New GHSA Championship Format Announced

The Lumpkin County High School Cross Country teams kicked off the 2024 season on Saturday (August 20) with a pair of top-10 team finishes at the Kosh Classic in Atlanta. Our 4th-ranked boys finished 7th while the 9th-ranked girls posted a 9th place finish. Wyatt Windham won the boys race while Whitt joined his brother in the top-10 with a 6th place finish. The 2024 meet schedule features seven regular season meets prior to the newly formatted GHSA Sectional race on Saturday, Nov. 2 and the GHSA AAA State Championship on Saturday, Nov. 9 in Carrollton.

2023 GHSA AAA State Runners-Up (Boys); Girls Finish Program-Best 8th
The 2023 Lumpkin County High School Cross Country season came to an end with record breaking performances from both the boys’ and girls’ teams. The boys posted a GHSA AAA State Runner-Up finish which is the best finish in school history while the girls secured 8th place matching the best finish in program history. The season included the first-ever Region Championship for the boys and the first time in school history that both teams finished in the top-10 in the state in the same year. Wyatt Windham (4th), Ben Sherrill (7th), Keli George (12th) and Sam Edwards (13th) each recorded top-15 individual finishes for LCHS.

Some gold is headed back to the Gold City! LCHS Boys Cross Country wins program’s first ever Region Championship edging No. 3 Wesleyan by a single point. The LCHS girls are also Carrollton-bound after finishing in a tie for third in a stacked Region that also has five teams ranked in the state’s top 10. The girls edged No. 10 Pickens by two points. Six runners earned All-Region honors by virtue of their top-14 finish: Wyatt Windham (2nd), Ben Sherrill (3rd), Sam Edwards (5th), Jackson Marling (12th), Hagen Glenn (14th) and Keli George (8th). Both teams edged runners in the final 100 meters to make school history!!
